Some of the more popular times for hiking along this trail are between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, so plan your trip accordingly. Open to hikers, bikers, and horses alike, there are a variety of trailheads so you'll never get bored finding ways to move about the park. With beautiful views and kid-friendly terrain, there's no reason to not explore this trail!
The Terrace Hiking Trail
The Terrace Hiking Trail is another popular option in the Ocotillo area. The trail goes right through the woods, and it is typically reserved for just hiking. The paths are well-lit by sunlight, making them a great choice for family walks where parents can easily keep track of their children. You can reach the trail off Via Fortuna road easily. This trail is a secret secluded gem despite being located in a metropolitan area. It's great for a quieter solo hike, or with a couple friends.
Latta Branch Greenbelt
This area is managed by the City of Austin's Park and Recreation Department, and is well regulated and watched over. Along with Slaughter Creek Trail's options, this set of trails is popular mostly between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. People who frequent this trail claim it's a great location to go on family walks, and there are even areas for picnicking and swimming, making it perfect for a hot Austin day.
