December is a beautiful time of the year at Ocotillo Apartments and throughout Austin as the community enjoys the Holiday season and other fun events taking place throughout that month. Many of those living here make the short trips to these activities.
Lady Gaga on Dec. 5
The award-winning singer, who has some of the best-selling song releases of all time, will be making a stop in Austin on Dec. 5. She will be performing here while in the midst of her year-long Joanne World Tour, and her fans from around the world will descend upon the University of Texas' Frank Erwin Center that evening to experience the unique experience that is a Lady Gaga concert. Reports from earlier shows on the tour have said that the crowds are usually in a fever pitch by the time it starts and that the experience is a fun one.
Texas Longhorns Basketball (On Various Dates)
Also at the Frank Erwin Center throughout December will be Texas Longhorns basketball games. The highlight of the month is a visit from Kansas' men's team on Dec. 29, which is the Big 12 Conference-opening contest for both schools. A game against Michigan on Dec. 12 is one that fans are looking forward to as well. Meanwhile, Texas' women's team, who entered the campaign ranked No. 2 in the country, has high-profile matches against Florida State on Dec. 17 and West Virginia on Dec. 31, the latter being the squad's first Big 12 home game of the season.
Willie Nelson & Family New Year on Dec. 29, 30 and 31
Willie Nelson, who has spent much of his life in Austin, will be performing three times at the Moody Theater, which is located on the street that bears his name: West Willie Nelson Boulevard. It's also where Austin City Limits is recorded, a show that featured Willie Nelson on its first broadcast, which aired on Oct. 17, 1974. He will be joined by Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real in December.
A Christmas Carol (On Various Dates)
What would Christmas season be like without watching "A Christmas Carol" being performed live? How about a musical version? From the ZACH Theatre's website, it's "Austin's most rockin' holiday tradition" and "a musical sleigh ride through rhythm and time." Harvey Guion, who is playing Ebenezer Scrooge, and others sing songs in a variety of genres while remaining dressed in Victorian clothes and in a Victorian setting.
Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie's Doorway to Magic on Dec. 23
Another great way to celebrate the holiday season is by making the short journey to the Frank Erwin Center on Dec. 23 to enjoy this wonderful show, which will take place three times that day. Although it is not holiday-themed, it's one that children and those who are children at heart will love to experience just two days before Christmas. This is the one stop that this production will be making in Austin.
