September in Austin welcomes much-needed lower temperatures and a variety of fun events! Take advantage of these great festivals and events throughout the city, all just a short drive from our Southwest Austin apartments.
See two Stephen King adaptations and a zombie musical during Fantastic Fest. This festival at the Alamo Drafthouse is the largest horror film festival in the United States. The festival will have an Arabic theme this year, so look for many special events from numerous Arabian countries. It all takes place from September 21st to 28th.
Austin Museum Day
Stop putting off visiting Austin’s amazing museums by taking advantage of the special activities during Austin Museum Day on September 17, 2017. More than 60 museums will be offering free admission with many offering special events.

Texas Craft Brewers Festival
A variety of Texas top craft brews will be available at the Texas Craft Brewers Festival on September 30. This event at Fiesta Gardens is the largest beer festival in the state dedicated to only Texas craft beers. Bring a blanket to lay out under the Fiesta Festival pavilion overlooking Lady Bird Johnson Lake while sipping on excellent craft beer. There will also be many great food vendors on hand along with non-alcoholic beverages.
Pecan Street Festival
Artists and musicians will crowd Pecan Street for the Pecan Street Festival on September 23 and 24. Now in its 38th year, this event draws artists from across the state in a variety of mediums including working metal, wood, fiber, clay, leather, glass, stone and more. The event also features over 60 bands. There's no fee for entry, so stop by Pecan street and browse beautiful and unique art while listening to some tunes!
Celebrate German heritage at the AustOberfest held on September 30, 2017, at 1607 San Jacinto. Eat unlimited sausages made by some of Austin’s best meat producers, sample German beer and participate in fun contests while listening to some authentic German music!
